Description:
Abstract:
These data were generated as a cooperative project between the Bureau of Land Management and the Bureau of Reclamation for the purpose of mapping sagebrush in a defined study area in and around the Cedar Creek anticline within SE Montana, SW North Dakota and a small portion of NW South Dakota.
Purpose:
The importance of sagebrush for many obligate species including sage grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) is well documented. Because of the growing concern over the loss of sagebrush steppe due to urbanization, agriculture, livestock grazing, management tactics and energy development an awareness of declines have been observed by sagebrush obligate species (sage grouse) . It was deemed important to establish a baseline on the location and quality of potential habitat.
