Description

QuadIndex_Poly is a coverage which contains theoretically perfect quadrangle polygons encompassing the State of North Dakota. Attribution of the polygons includes 1:250000, 1:100000, 1:24000, and 1:24000 quarter quadrangle delineations, the dates of the 7.5', 1:24000 scale USGS topo maps, and the photo dates for the USGS Digital Orthophoto Quarter Quadrangles (DOQQs).

Summary

This coverage can be used in a variety of ways. It could be used as an index coverage for DLG availability, as an index to the dates of the topo quads and DOQQs, as a digitizing control coverage, or maybe as a clipping extent for clipping USGS Digital Raster Graphics and Digitial Orthophoto Quarter Quadrangles.

Measure description
Photo dates should be fairly accurate, however discrepancies have been found between source data paper files, photo headers, and CD covers. As updated photos are added, the photo dates will be more reliably transferred to this index.

Theoretically perfect - Coordinates were derived from spreadsheet generated X's and Y's at a 3.75 minute of degree interval.

When the process occurred 2001-08-01
Description
A fishnet grid was created with intersections at every 3.75 minutes of degrees latitude and longitude. Polygons were created, items added and attributed with USGS row and column information along with 1 degree x 1 degree block numbers being assigned. Through the use of INFO, this information was concatonated into the USGS naming conventions for 1:250000, 1:100000, 1:24000, and 1:24000 quarter quads. Names for the quads were taken from USGS index sheets or from existing data tables that the NDSWC had on hand.
