Description

Merrick and Company produced Digital Color Orthophotography of both 0.5 foot and 1 foot pixel resolution for the 2008 Fargo Digital Mapping project. Orthophotography combines the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map.

Description
The digital orthophotography was created by rectifying the digital aerial photography to the DTM data and GPS-survey results using Cubic Convolution methodology. The orthophotography was mosaicked and radiometrically balanced to ensure tonal consistency. The final pixel resolution was provided in both 0.5 foot and 1 foot pixel resolutions. Said orthophotography meets National Map Accuracy Standards.

The 24-bit true-color orthoimagery has a digital number (DN) from 0 to 255 assigned to each pixel and for each band in a three-band image represented by red, green, and blue (RGB).  The three combined DN values gives the pixel its color.
